Brown Lid - Garden waste Bin

Please continue using your brown-lidded garden waste bin to recycle your garden waste as normal. Collections will be made on alternate weeks to your recycling bin collection and we will provide you with a calendar that shows your collection dates. Your collection day will not change.

Please place your bin out for collection by 7am at the front of your property on the boundary, where your garden/path/steps join the public footpath, where it can be clearly seen and where it doesn't block the pavement or cause an obstruction to pedestrians. For most people there will be no changes from where you currently place your bins.

Frequently asked questions

  • My bin wasn't emptied what do I do?

    If your bin was out for collection at 7am, but wasn't emptied on the due day please contact Coventry Direct on 0500 834333.

     

  • Can I put extra garden waste out by my bin?

    We can only collect garden waste that is contained in your bin with the lid closed. Please do not put out extra garden waste as it cannot be collected. Please keep any extra garden waste for your next collection or take it to the Public Waste site, (the tip) located on the London Road.

     

  • Do I put my garden waste in a plastic bag?

    No, plastic bags do not biodegrade and as such are unsuitable for containing your garden waste for collection. We can only collect garden waste that is contained loose within your brown-lidded bin.

     

  • Where will I put my bin for collection?

    Once the new recycling collection starts please place your bin out for collection by 7am at the front of your property on the boundary, where your garden/path/steps join the public footpath, where it can be clearly seen and where it doesn't block the pavement or cause an obstruction to pedestrians.   • Which bin do I put my garden waste in?

  • What time must my bin be out?

    All bins need to be out for 7am. If bins are not out by 7am you may miss your collection. Collections crew cannot return if your bin is out late.

     

  • Why is the service changing?

    We are making improvements to your recycling service so that we can all recycle more and help protect our environment; it will:

    • Make it more convenient for you to recycle more materials
    • Allow you to recycle more, directly from home
    • Conserve our natural resources by converting used materials into new products
    • Save energy
    • Help protect our local environment
     

  • What day will my collections take place?

    Your recycling collections will take place fortnightly on the same day of the week as your rubbish collection. A collection calendar will be delivered along with you new recycling bin.

     

  • I need help moving my bin. What do I do?

    Assisted collections are available for residents with limited mobility, or where there is no-one residing in the property able to move the bin to the boundary. If you would like to request an assisted collection please contact Coventry Direct on 0500 834333.
